Saeed Naqvi grew up in a family where poetry and literature was a way of life. He was introduced first hand to contemporary poets like Josh, Jigar Moradabadi, Changez, Firaq, Majaaz, Ali Sardar Jafri, Niaz Haider, Faiz, and a host of others. Kaifi Aazmi actually lived in his house in Lucknow. He has shared evenings with Janisar Akhtar, Fahmida Riyaz, Ahmad Faraz, Zehra Nigah, Khumar Barabankwi. Likewise, he has been fortunate to have known from close quarters some of the greatest musicians like Ali Akbar Khan, Pandit Ravi Shankar, Vilayat Khan, Amjad Ali Khan, Begum Akhtar, Nazaqat Ali, Salamat Ali, Bhimsen Joshi, Mallikarjun Mansur, Gangubai Hangal, Kishori Amonkar, and others.
